NYC, Summer 2002

In mid-summer, I made a return trip to Ground Zero to see what had changed. It had been 5 months since I'd been there last, when I photographed the Towers of Light.

As I walked down thru Greenwich Village, life seemed to be inching back to a new kind of normal. The damage to the city's economy from the past year was evident from the number of closed store-fronts.

But this is a city that continually regenerates, and there were as many new places as closed.

Faded headlines still graced one abandoned shop window.
